1. About GigShield

GigShield is a tax management tool designed for self-employed and gig economy workers in the United Kingdom. It is operated by Paul Church (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using GigShield, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Important Tax Disclaimer

GigShield provides estimated tax calculations only and does not constitute professional tax, financial, or legal advice. Tax estimates are based on the information you provide and standard HMRC rates. They may not account for your full personal circumstances. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your tax returns. We strongly recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax advisor before making financial decisions or submitting tax returns to HMRC.

3. Your Account

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. You must be at least 18 years old to use GigShield.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

GigShield offers the following plans:

  • Free: Limited features including up to 20 expense entries
  • Pro (£4.99/month): Full access to all features

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Pro subscriptions renew monthly unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; access continues until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use GigShield for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
  • Upload malicious content or interfere with the service
  • Share your account with others or create multiple free accounts
  • Reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute GigShield

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you enter into GigShield. We process your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You can export or delete your data at any time. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GigShield and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, without limitation, any losses resulting from reliance on tax estimates, missed tax deadlines, incorrect tax submissions, or financial decisions made based on information provided by GigShield.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of GigShield shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Service Availability

We aim to keep GigShield available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect availability. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned downtime.

9. Account Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with reasonable notice where possible. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the GigShield dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
